What is Tofu?
Tofu is a curd of soya (like ricotta). According to the popular Chinese–Japanese Tradition, the Taoist monk Lin An, who lived around 160 BC, invented it. Tofu thanks to its high quality protein content and the absence of lactose and the low fat content, is a fundamental element for a healthy diet. It is called “the chameleon of foods” for its typical property of absorbing the flavours which accompany it. Enriched with the tastes of good Mediterranean cooking it also satisfies the most demanding of palates. Its principal characteristic is its excellent culinary malleability; as said it is suitable for a vast range of dishes of traditional, dietary, alternative or vegetarian cooking.
Conservation: Tofu should be stored in the refrigerator between 0° and 5° degrees.
Use: It is recommended for all ages, from weaning (7-8 months), except for specific individual intolerances or allergies.
